Women's Soccer Takes Down Thomas More 3-1

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's soccer team improved its' winning streak to four games on Saturday, Oct. 26 with a 3-1 victory over the visiting Thomas More Saints. That victory gives the Oilers a 7-4-2 record on the season and a 7-3-1 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play, keeping UF in fourth in the league standings. Thomas More falls to 5-7-3 overall and 2-7-3 in the league.

Getting things going early, senior Ellie Janszen, who has been on fire in the month of October, scored just 12 minutes into the contest off an assist from junior Sydney Noble. That would be the lone goal of the first half.

Eight minutes into the second half, Janszen again found the back of the net for the first two-score game of her career and her sixth goal of the season, all of which have come in the last six games. She is now tied for sixth in the conference in goals scored despite not scoring in any of the first eight games of the year. Over Janszen's run, the Oilers have a record of 5-0-1.

13 minutes later, junior Payton Miller scored her fourth goal of the season to put UF ahead 3-0. Thomas More knocked in a goal with 20 minutes left in the game, but that was all the closer the Saints would come as the Oilers went on to victory.

Findlay out-shot Thomas More 20-to-11 including nine shots on goal compared to just four for TMU.

Junior Audrey Gibson-Zweifel spent all 90 minutes in the net, making three saves and allowing just the lone second half goal.

The Oilers are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 31 with a home game against Northwood. That contest, Findlay's final regular season home game of the year, will kick off at 1:00 pm.
