Indianapolis, Ind. – On Thursday, Nov. 14, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced the women's soccer all-conference selections for the 2024 season. Findlay had five players selected including three first team picks and two second team picks. Grad student Alyssa Stark, junior Sydney Noble, and junior Payton Miller were named all-G-MAC first team while senior Ellie Janszen and senior Ella Pugh were named all-G-MAC second team.
First Team All-Great Midwest
Already established as one of the best in the region at her position, Alyssa Stark earns her fourth career all-conference selection adding to a first team pick in 2021, second team and Freshman of the Year pick in 2021 (spring), and third team pick in 2022. Stark anchored a defense that allowed just 13 goals all season, the second-fewest in the league. She did find the back of the net two this year, the first two goals of her career, scoring twice in a win against Ursuline. For that effort, Stark was named G-MAC Player of the Week.
Earning her first career all-G-MAC award is junior Sydney Noble who led the team and scored a career-high ten goals this season, third-most in the G-MAC this year. Noble scored three game-winners this year including the deciding goal in a critical win against Tiffin in the final regular-season contest, giving the Oilers the second seed in the G-MAC Championship Tournament. The Hebron, Kentucky native was named G-MAC Player of the Week once this season.
Also earning all-conference for the first time is junior Payton Miller. This year she scored four goals and had two assists in more than 1,300 minutes on the pitch. Twice this year Miller scored a goal and had an assist in the same game, those coming on Sep. 21 against Cedarville and Oct. 26 against Thomas More.
Second Team All-Great Midwest
A late-season scoring frenzy propelled Ellie Janszen to her first all-G-MAC selection as the senior scored seven goals this season, all of which came in the final nine games of the year. That onslaught included a pair of goals against Thomas More on Oct. 26. The Oilers did not lose a regular-season game after Janszen's first goal of the year which came back on Oct. 9 against Kentucky Wesleyan.
Findlay's defensive prowess was on display, along with Stark, by senior Ella Pugh who picks up her first career all-conference selection. The Lexington, Kentucky native started in all 17 regular-season games for the Oilers, logging nearly 1,200 minutes on the field and was crucial in allowing just .76 goals per game on average, the second-best in the conference.
