Findlay Wins 3-1 Over Ky. Wesleyan in Owensboro

Owensboro, Ky.- The University of Findlay volleyball team headed south for a two-game regular season finale. The Oilers, ranked seventh in the Midwest region, took on the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers Friday, Nov. 15 in Jones Gymnasium, a contest they won 3-1 (24-26, 25-9, 25-19, 25-21). With the win, they improve to 18-8 on the year with a 10-4 mark in the conference. Meanwhile the Panthers fall to 0-25 on the season with an 0-14 record in league play.

The Oilers, which have an 8-1 record against the Panthers in the last decade, were in a fight early on as the teams needed extra points to decide the opening set. The two teams were tied at 23 but Kentucky Wesleyan secured the final three points of the set to steal the first frame.

Findlay dominated in the second set, hitting a blister 0.423 while the Panthers hit, leading to a lopsided 25-9 victory for Findlay.

The Oilers kept the pressure, taking the third set by a score of 25-19 before winning the fourth and final frame 25-21.

As a team, Findlay hit .292 for the match, collecting 56 kills, while KWC hit .131 and had 46 kills.
