Tiffin, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's soccer team was back in action on Saturday, Nov. 16 against Kentucky Wesleyan University for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) championship game. The Oilers and Panthers matched up twice in the regular season, with KWC taking the first game 2-0 and Findlay taking the second with a score of 4-0. In their first G-MAC championship game appearance in school history, the Oilers added another mark on the historic season, taking down the Panthers 1-0 to capture Findlay's first ever men's soccer conference championship. The Oilers now stand at 11-3-5, while the Panthers end their season with a record of 10-6-4.
Both team's defense stepped up in this championship match-up, with no team eclipsing over ten shots. The game was also physical throughout, as a total of 21 fouls, including four yellow cards, were handed out in the contest. After 40 scoreless minutes, the Orange and Black would break through with a corner kick goal. Findlay senior
Maciej Gaszynski put home the game's lone goal from a fantastic ball from sophomore
Tyler Pawlicki. For Gaszynski, he recorded his sixth goal of the season and the ninth of his career.
As seen all season from G-MAC goalkeeper of the year
Keegan Grant, he was fantastic in between the posts for the Oilers. Grant stopped all four Panther shots on goal to record his fourth shut out of the campaign.
The Oilers now await Monday, Nov. 18, when the NCAA DII playoff bracket is released.
