Billings, Mont. - The University of Findlay women's basketball team was back in action on Saturday, Nov. 2 for their second match-up of the D2CCA Tip Off Classic, hosted by Montana State - Billings. The Oilers took on Minot State, defeating the Beavers by a score of 67-58. With this victory, Findlay now has their first win of the season and now stands at 1-1. With this loss, Minot State falls to 0-2 on the young season.
The game was very competitive throughout, with each of the first three quarters not seeing a point differential greater than five points. It was not until the fourth quarter, where the Oilers outscored the Beavers 24-14, that Findlay pulled away and ended up with the victory.
Leading the offense for the Oilers were seniors Kate Ellis and Janae Hoying, who scored 15 and 13 points respectively. Along with the points, they both added three assists a piece. Hoying was very effective from the field, going 3-5 from the three point line and 5-8 overall from the field.
Providing a spark for the Oilers off the bench were sophomore Allie Stockton and senior Chole Callahan. Stockton would go on to record a career high 14 points, shooting 2-4 from beyond the arc. Callahan added 11 points of her own, along with two rebounds and an assist to help solidify a win for the orange and black.
The Oilers will be back in action on Sunday, Nov. 3 for their final game of the D2CCA Tip Off Classic, where they will face off against Montana State - Billings at 3 pm.
