Tiffin, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's soccer team traveled to Tiffin, Ohio to face off against the Tiffin University Dragons on Wednesday, Nov 6th. The Oilers wrap up the regular season play with a 2-1 win over the Dragons, UF's seventh victory in a row. With the win, the Oilers improve to 10-3-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play and 10-4-3 overall. While the Dragons drop to 1-11-2 in G-MAC play and 1-15-2 overall.
The Oilers took the lead just four minutes into the game after senior Ellie Janszen found the back of the net putting the score at 1-0. A goal early in the second half by the Dragons would tie the score at 1-1. Then, in the 79th minute, junior Sydney Noble would hit the target off an assist from Ellie Janszen, giving the Oilers the final score of 2-1.Â
Janszen, who had scored one goal in each of the previous two seasons, has now scored seven goals on the season, seventh-best in the G-MAC. Noble is also having a standout season and has now chipped in with ten goals this year, third in the conference.
Junior goalkeeper Cat Graves would record two saves on the day to help slow down the Dragons offense.
The Oilers have earned a trip to the G-MAC Championship Tournament and will either be hosting a game this Saturday at DeHaven or finish as the #2 seed, earning a first round bye. That fate depends on the game currently underway between Ohio Dominican and Cedarville.
