Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's basketball team was back in action on Saturday, Nov. 9 for the second day of play in the Midwest Region Crossover. The Oilers faced off against Saginaw Valley State, defeating the Cardinals by a score of 65-56. Findlay finished off an impressive weekend, improving their record to 3-2. With the loss, Saginaw Valley falls to 1-1 on the year.
The Oilers got off to a hot start, shooting 8-15 from the field, including 3-of-4 from the three-point line in the first quarter. After a seven point lead through ten minues, the second quarter was a battle with both teams scoring 14 a piece. Findlay had things slip away from them in the third quarter, as they were outscored 17-of-5 and shooting just 2-of-11 from the field. The Orange and Black would turn things around in the final frame, dominating the Cardinals and putting the game to rest.
Leading the charge for the Oilers was sophomore guard
Addisyn Freeman, who recorded her first career double-double. Along with a career high ten rebounds, she matched her career high in points with 13.
Strong play off the bench would be the story for Findlay, as it was also senior Chole Callahan with the strong showing. She would record ten points in the game, shooting 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Along with a pretty display of shooting, she would also add four rebounds to cap off a solid performance.
The Oilers will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 16 when they travel to Pennsylvania to take on Edinboro. Tip-off will be at 1 pm.
