Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Findlay Remains Perfect in G-MAC Play | Wins 70-57 Over ODU

Columbus, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's basketball took to the road on Saturday, Dec. 14 for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) match-up against the Ohio Dominican University Panthers. Thanks to a dominant first half, the Oilers picked up a 70-57 win to improve to an 8-1 mark on the season with a perfect 3-0 start in league play. Meanwhile, the Panthers fall to 3-5 on the year with an 0-3 mark in conference play.

Findlay got on the board first thanks to a layup by junior Anthony Johnson, seizing a lead they would hold onto for the rest of the game. Four minutes into the game, the Oilers had a four point lead at 10-6, but the game changed on a 12-2 run by Findlay. During that stretch, which spanned four-and-a-half minutes, UF was 5-for-7 from the floor. That run propelled the visitors to a 13-point halftime lead at 41-28.

The Orange and Black would not look back as they maintained the lead for the rest of the game, seeing it grow to as large as 17 points in the second half of play ultimately taking a 13-point win.

The Oilers recorded 24-of-57 (42.1%) from the floor including 11-of-33 (33.3%) from beyond the arc while the Panthers made just 22-of-63 (34.9%) and 8-of-31 (25.8%) from three-point range. Findlay dominated in second-chance points, outscoring the home team 23-13 by winning the rebounding battle 44-37.

Sophomore Will Aljancic paced Findlay with 15 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Despite recording just 4-of-13 from the floor, the forward capitalized at the charity stripe, going 6-of-7.

Junior Jagger Landers and sophomore Jake Bishop both added 13 points. Both were 4-of-9 from the floor while knocking down three three-pointers. Both Landers and Bishop had three rebounds to their ledger.

Sophomore Anthony Johnson led the team in assists with four while chipping in six points. Freshman Ian Ioppolo came off the bench to add seven points for the Orange and Black.

Findlay will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 17 when they play host to Olivet for a non-conference affair. That game will tip off at 7:00pm in Croy Gymnasium.
