Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's basketball team was back in action on Thursday, Dec. 19 in a match-up against Purdue Northwest. It was a dominant 82-64 victory for the Orange and Black, as four different Oilers would score double digits. With the win, Findlay extends their win streak to four games and raises their record to 9-3. With the loss, Purdue Northwest sees their record drop to 3-6 on the season.
The Oiler offense was firing on all cylinders, as they would open the game up with a 10-0 run and would not lose the lead for the remainder of the game. Their lead would get up as high as 25 points after a three pointer from
Allie Stockton just over a minute into play in the 4th.
Leading the charge for the Oilers was grad student
Kate Ellis, who would finish with 16 points. Out of the first 12 games, opponents' defense has been able to contain Ellis to under ten points just twice. Along with a strong scoring performance, she would also add six assists.
Holding it down on the defensive end for the Orange and Black was sophomore
Allie Stockton. She would tally five steals, the second game in a row she has reached this mark. Stockton's effort would play a key role in forcing the Pride into 16 total turnovers. Along with her defense, Stockton would also add 11 points and three rebounds.
Junior
Alyssa Ziehler was a force in the paint, finishing her night with 12 points and nine rebounds, one shy of a double-double.
Proving a spark off the bench for the Oilers were
MacKenzie Schulz,
Addisyn Freeman, and
Ella Mescher, who each contributed eight points to the team total.
The Oilers will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 21 when they will be back at home to take on Wayne State University. Tip off will be at 1 pm.
