Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Big Second Half Lifts Oilers Past Walsh

North Canton, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's basketball team was back in action on Saturday, Dec. 7 for their second Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) match-up of the season.  Facing off against Walsh University, the Oilers were able to come away with the victory in a back and forth affair with a score of 82-72.  With the win, Findlay continues their hot start to the season and sees their record rise to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.  Meanwhile, Walsh now stands at 3-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

In this competitive match-up with two conference foes, it was tight throughout.  The game saw four ties and 15 lead changes.  In the first half of play, neither squad was able to pull away, with the largest lead being a five point advantage for the Oilers after a Jake Bishop layup with ten minutes to play.

The Oilers' rising three point percentage came to a halt today, as they shot just 5-19 from beyond the arc in the first half and finished the game 7-27.  Walsh was able to take advantage of the Findlay shooting struggles in the first half, taking a 34-31 advantage into the break.

The Orange and Black would not stumble in the second half, as two quick scores from Jagger Landers and Anthony Johnson would give them the lead.  Both of these scores came off of Cavalier turnovers, as these were just two of the 17 that Walsh would record in the game.  The Oilers would not look back, as they would maintain this lead for the rest of the game to hold for the ten point victory.

Leading the charge for the Oilers was sophomore Jake Bishop.  The Findlay native dropped a career high 20 points on 9-16 shooting from the field.
Also with a strong showing was senior Josh Thorbahn.  He would record 17 points for the second time this season.  Thorbahn would shoot 4-6 from beyond the arc, along with adding five rebounds.

The Oilers will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 14 when they travel to Columbus to take on Ohio Dominican University.  Tip off will be at 3 pm.
