Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Findlay Dominates Cedarville on the Road | Win by Nearly 40

Cedarville, Ohio- As the season nears its end, the University of Findlay women's basketball game hit the road to take on the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup. Findlay led from start to finish, clinching a commanding 81-43 victory. With the win, the Oilers improve to 12-12 on the season and 8-8 in league play. Meanwhile, Cedarville falls to 5-18 on the year with a 3-13 mark in the conference.

After the first quarter, the Oilers led by six at 12-6. They opened the second quarter with a 14-0 run leaving the Yellow Jackets scoreless for nearly five minutes. Findlay would continue with that same momentum to take a 26 point lead at the break.

The second half began with much of the same as the Orange and Black, which never trailed on Saturday, outscored CU 22-14 over the next ten minutes, building a 34-point lead at 61-27. The dominating effort would continue into the final frame as the Oilers built a 35-point cushion for the remaining minutes of the game. Findlay would cruise through the final minutes to secure the 38-point victory.

On the afternoon, the Oilers hit 33-of-62 from the floor (53.2%), their best shooting performance of the season. This included just 3-of-15 (20.0%) from three-point range. Findlay dominated on the glass, out-rebounding the Yellow Jackets 49-to-27 including grabbing 11 offensive boards. Scoring in the paint was also a strength for the visiting team, putting up 56 points from the key while allowing just 12.

Leading the Oilers was senior Kate Ellis who recorded 19 points on 9-of-13 from the field. She also grabbed six rebounds.

Freshman MacKenzie Schulz recorded 15 points on 6-of-8 while grabbing ten rebounds. This is the second double-double of her career. Sophomore Alyssa Ziehler also recorded 15 points while grabbing four rebounds.

The Oilers will return home as they prepare to face longtime rival Tiffin University on Thursday, Feb. 22. That game will tipoff at 5:30pm.
