Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's basketball team fell to the Walsh University Cavaliers on Saturday, Feb. 3 in Croy Gymnasium by a score of 89-64. With the loss, Findlay falls to 8-11 overall and 5-6 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Walsh advances to 14-4 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
What started off as a back-and-forth game turned south for the Oilers after the teams tied 16-all. Walsh went on a 34-11 run to end the half, drilling seven-of-ten from three point range in that stretch, to take a 50-27 lead into the break.
Senior Nathan Bruns kicked off the second half with two made free throws which was quickly followed by Walsh making a hook shot.
Walsh made 32-of-60 shots during the game, going 53.3% (16-of-30) from outside the 3-point line to Findlay's 33.3% (10-of-30). The Oilers were just over 53% (8-of-15) from the free throw line while Walsh was 75% (9-of-12). The Cavaliers outrebounded the Oilers 37-30.
Seniors Joey Edmonds, Nathan Bruns and sophomore Max Roth, who was two-of-two from three point range, each contributed 10 points to the Oilers score. Freshman Will Aljancic had a total of eight rebounds during play.
The Oilers will be back in action on Feb. 5 when they travel to Ohio Dominican University. That game will tip off at 6pm.
