Buffalo, N.Y. - The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team traveled to Buffalo, New York to take on Daemen University, Friday, March,15. In a back-and-forth contest, Findlay prevailed, winning by a score of 15-13. With the win the Oilers record advances to 4-3 on the season while Daemen falls to 1-7.
Daemen kicked off the scoring first, scoring a goal in the first two minutes but Findlay answered right back. After back-and-forth action, the score was tied once again at 3-3 at the seven-minute mark when sophomore
Tessa Chuba found the back of the net. Daemen would score the last goal of the first quarter to take a 4-3 lead through the first ten minutes of play.
The Oilers tied it up once again just one minute into the second quarter. The game would be tied three more times until Findlay outscored the Wildcats 5-3 in the final quarter to take the three-goal win.
Leading Findlay was Chuba, who recorded ten draw controls, a season-high six goals, four groundballs and two caused-turnovers. Senior
Madeline Shewbridge found the back of the net five times during play and secured one groundball. Junior
Olivia Alvarado scored twice during play and had two assists and one draw.
In goal for the Oilers was senior
Olivia Bakowski who recorded a eight saves.
Findlay outshot the Wildcats 31-28, however, DU out-saved UF 10-8.
The Oilers will be back in action when they host McKendree at home on Wednesday, March 20 at 1pm.
