West Liberty, West Virginia - The University of Findlay wrestling team was in West Virginia for the 2024 NCAA Division II Super Region III Tournament which was hosted by West Liberty University.

The one-day event saw nine hours of competition take place over three mats as 11 schools and nearly 100 wrestlers battled for the right to continue their seasons at the NCAA DII National Championship. 

Findlay had a pair of athletes finish just outside the position of national qualifier as both junior Ashton Anderson and junior Kenny Snyder took fourth in their respective weight classes.

Anderson got his day started with a 3-2 decision in the first round and won in sudden victory in his quarterfinal bout. In the semifinal at 141, Anderson was lost by fall to the top-ranked wrestler in the country, but came back with a victory by fall of his own in the consolation semis. In his third place matchup, battling to earn a trip to nationals, Anderson was defeated by West Liberty's Khyvon Grace, narrowly keeping Findlay's 141-pounder away from a trip to Kansas later this month.

At 174 pounds, Kenny Snyder gave it a run, as well, and got his day going with a tech fall victory against his opponent from Davenport. A defeat to David Davis of Tiffin sent Snyder into the consolation bracket where he fought back for a 15-10 decision and a 12-4 major decision to earn his way into the consolation semis. There, Snyder defeated James Penfold from Lake Erie to get a shot in the third place bout. He again faced Davis from Tiffin and was defeated 7-3 to finish in fourth.

Senior Gavin Ritter, junior Gary Nilson, and sophomore Giulian Bodiu all placed in the tournament, each finishing sixth. Ritter comepted at 133 pounds while Nilson was slotted in at 165 and Bodiu competed at heavyweight.
