Tiffin, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team defeated the Tiffin University Dragons 23-3 Wednesday, April 17. With the win the Oilers advance to 10-6 on the season and 5-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). Meanwhile, the Dragons fall to 6-9 overall and 4-3 in league play.
Junior
Olivia Alvarado put the Oilers first goal on the board just one minute into the game. Once Findlay started, they didn't stop, scoring another eight goals and ending the first quarter with a 9-0 advantage. The Dragons scored their first goal of the game in the second quarter but the Oilers answered 30 second later with two goals in under a minute by senior
Paige Falk which gave the Dragons a ten-goal deficit and forced a running clock.
The Oilers only allowed two more goals by the Dragons and continued to find twine during the second half, ending the game up by 20 goals.
Findlay was led by sophomore
Tessa Chuba who scored seven goals, a career-high for the Hartland, Mich. native. She also nine draw controls, two assists and one caused turnover. Junior
Olivia Alvarado and senior
Paige Falk both scored four goals. Falk also secured five draw controls for the Oilers.
Madeline Shewbridge recorded three goals.
Senior
Olivia Bakowski made three saves during play before being relieved by sophomore
Rachel Esselstyn who made one save. The Oilers outshot the Dragons 41-11. Tiffin had eight more turnovers than Findlay while the Oilers secured 22 draw controls to the Dragon's eight.
The Oilers will be back in action for their last regular-season conference game when they travel to Ashland University to face the Eagles on Saturday, April 20 at 12pm.
