Oilers Take Down Storm 16-6 in Painesville

Painesville, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team defeated the Lake Erie Storm on Sunday, April 7 by a score of 16-6. With this win the Oilers improve to 9-6 in the season and 4-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while the Storm fall to 5-10 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

The teams were tied at three at the end of the first quarter, but this tie didn't last long. Findlay scored five goals in the second quarter and didn't allow Lake Erie to score any. During the second half, the Oilers added another eight tallies to the board while Storm only added three.

Sophomore Tessa Chuba scored six goals during play as well as had two assists, ten draw controls and caused one turnover. Senior Madeline Shewbridge also led the team with six goals and two assists. She also had one groundball and two caused turnovers. Junior Olivia Alvarado found twine twice during the game. Freshman Rebecca Chmiel and senior Paige Falk each added a goal to the Oilers total. Falk also had one draw control.

Senior goalie Olivia Bakowski made a total of five saves during the game.

The Oilers outshot Storm 29-14, and Lake Erie made three more turnovers and caused four less.

The Oilers will be back in action Wednesday, Apr. 10 when they host Thomas More at 4pm.
