Ashland, OH - The University of Findlay men's soccer team secured the win in their first conference matchup of the season as they defeated Ashland 3-1 on Thursday, Sep. 19. With this win, the Oilers continue their hot start and raise their record to 3-1, while the Eagles fall to 1-3.
The scoring got started early as the Oilers got on the board in the 14th minute with a goal from senior Brendan Ash. However, the Eagles responded with a goal of their own by way of Oliver Whaley in the 37th minute. The game remained deadlocked into the second half, until Findlay put the game on ice with two goals coming in the 74th and 83rd minute. These goals came from freshman Joey Chirco and sophomore Oliver Lindstrom. With these goals, both players recorded their first career goals for the Oilers.
Coming up big for the Oilers was senior Maciej Gaszynski, as he recorded two assists in the game. This brings his point total to four in the young season.
The Oilers will be back next at home on Saturday, Sep. 21, where they will face off against conference foe Kentucky Wesleyan at 1 pm.
