Ashland, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's soccer team traveled to Ashland, Ohio to open Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play against the #11 Ashland University Eagles Thursday, Sep. 19th. After a hard-fought match, the Oilers fell short against the Eagles with a score of 1-0. With the loss the Oilers now sit 0-1-0 in the G-MAC and 0-2-1 overall while the Eagles advance to 1-0-0 in the G-MAC and 2-1-0 overall.
The Oilers offense had a quick start with a shot on goal by junior Payton Miller within the first minute of play. Senior Alyssa Stark and Hannah Rybicki both contributed a shot on goal in the second half to try to close the gap with the Eagles.
Junior goalkeeper Audrey Gibson-Zweifel recorded five saves to help slow down the Eagles offense. Gibson-Zweifel allowed one lone goal to slide by her in the 53rd minute giving AU the 1-0 lead.
The Oilers will be back in action Saturday, Sep. 21, as they host their first home match at DeHaven Field against the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets. Kickoff is scheduled for 4pm.
