Findlay, OH - The University of Findlay women's soccer team came away with their first win of the season as they defeated Cedarville University 3-0 on Saturday, Sep. 21. It was a game full of firsts for the Oilers as head coach
Sierra Tom secured her first career win. Coah Tom spent two years as an assistant before taking over the reins this fall for the Oilers. With this victory, the Oilers record now stands at 1-2-2, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 2-3-1.
The Oilers' offense trended upwards today as
Sydney Noble kicked the scoring off with a goal in the 31st minute. This goal by Noble ended a three game dry spell for the Oilers, where Findlay saw over 270 minutes go by without a goal. The scoring did not stop there, however, with
Sydney Noble adding another goal in the 51st minute and
Payton Miller adding one of her own right after in the 52nd minute. Miller was productive on offense all game for the Oilers, recording an assist and three shots to go along with her goal.
Standing tall in between the posts for the Oilers were goalkeepers
Audrey Gibson-Zweifel and
Cat Graves. The duo came together for the clean sheet and totaled three saves on the day. This shutout was the second of the year for the Oilers.
The Oilers will be back in action at home on Thursday, Sep. 21 when they face off against the Lake Erie Storm at 1pm.
