Oilers Win Three Straight | Beat Lake Erie 3-0

Painesville, Ohio- The University of Findlay volleyball team continued their trip east with a stop at Lake Erie College for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup on Saturday, Sep. 21. The Oilers won 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-22) to improve to 8-2 on the year with a perfect 2-0 record in the conference. Meanwhile, the Storm fall to 2-8 on the season with an 0-2 mark in the G-MAC.

Despite Lake Erie putting up the first point of the contest, the Oilers put together a 9-1 rally to take a seven point lead at 9-2. The momentum stayed with Findlay as they would win the set with relative ease thanks to five unanswered points late in the set.

The second and third sets were closer but Findlay went on to win both, the second by five and the third by three.

As a team the Oilers hit .176, recording 34 kills and committing 16 errors. They held the Storm to a .046 hitting percentage as they recorded 26 kills and tallied 21 errors.

Findlay was once again led by sophomore Hannah Miller who recorded a team-high twelve kills. Junior Alana Pohlman also played well for the Orange and Black, contributing seven kills while hitting .375. She also led the team with two blocks.

Junior Emma White continues to run the offense for Findlay as she tallied 27 assists. Junior Kenzie Hoelscher led the team with four service aces.

Defensively, freshman Cecilia Palm had a team-high, ten digs. Hoelscher recorded eight while both Miller, freshman Grace Auer, and sophomore Maya Ellerbrock all had six.

The Oilers return to the road as they travel to Indiana University of Pennsylvania for a non-conference match Sunday, Sep. 22. That is scheduled to begin at 2pm.
