Ashland, Ohio - The University of Findlay volleyball team hit the road to a contest against the Ashland University Eagles on Friday, Sep. 27. A dominating 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-14) victory gave the Oilers a fifth consecutive victory and improved the team's record to 10-2 overall with a 3-0 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). Ashland, with the loss, falls to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in the league.
Early in the match, the two teams went back-and-forth. Trailing 9-8, Findlay went on a run, winning seven of the next nine points to take control and take a 15-11 lead. That run propelled the Orange and Black to a first set victory. In the opening set, the Oilers hit a solid .341, but it only got better from there.
Set two saw UF go on a run of nine consecutive points, taking an 11-11 score and turning it into a 20-11 score in favor of the Oilers. When the dust settled, Findlay took a 25-14 win and had a .414 hitting percentage.
In the final set, the Oilers wasted no time, taking a quick 12-4 lead. Findlay would clinch the match with another 25-14 set victory, this time doing so with a hitting percentage of .520.
Sophomore
Hannah Miller would lead the team with 14 kills and hit .308. She also added six digs and a pair of blocks. Also picking up two blocks was freshman
Grace Auer, who would finish with 11 kills and a team-high .688 hitting percentage. She was second on the team with nine digs.
Junior
Alana Pohlman collected ten kills and a block while junior
Kenzie Hoelscher had nine kills and a team-leading four blocks.
Junior
Emma White had 44 assists and ten digs. She also had a pair of aces.
Findlay is back in action tomorrow, Saturday, Sep. 28 with a game at Tiffin University. That contest will begin at 4:00 pm.
