Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Electric Second Half Leads the Oilers to Victory

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's soccer team defeated Lake Erie College 3-0 on Saturday, Sep. 28.  This victory marks the first time the Oilers have defeated the Storm since the 2018 season. The Oilers have been red hot in conference play, raising their Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) record to 3-1-0 and 5-2-0 overall. With the loss, the Storm fall to 3-1-0 in the conference and 4-3–0 overall.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half, with no one being able to find the back of the net.  However, the Oilers exploded for three goals in the second half, which was the second time in as many games they have recorded that many. Senior Maciej Gaszynski started the scoring for the Oilers in the 55th minute. Following this goal was junior Ryan Dickinson, who got on the board in the 81st minute. Putting the game on ice was Gaszynski who scored once again in the 86th minute, who has now seen his season point total rise to eight.

This was the second shutout in a row for the Oilers defense as Keegan Grant was stout in goal all game. The junior was a perfect nine for nine on save attempts, completely shutting down the Storm offense. With these nine saves, his season total now stands at 26.

The Oilers will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 3 when they will travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on the Panthers from Ohio Dominican at 7 pm.
