Indianapolis, Ind. - Junior Owen Clevenger has earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Special Teams Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Oilers win at Ashland this past Saturday. Findlay, ranked ninth in the country, rolled into Jack Miller Stadium and stifled the 15th-ranked Eagles to the tune of a 14-3 victory.
Clevenger, Findlay's punter, had one of the most important plays of the game which came just two minutes before halftime. Leading 14-0, Findlay was forced to punt from inside its' own ten yard line. Clevenger sent a ball sailing over the head of Ashland's punt returner who eventually picked up the ball on the Eagles' six, an 86-yard bomb that flipped the field and helped keep the home team scoreless in the half. That punt set new program and conference records and was the longest punt of the week in college football, all divisions.
