Indianapolis, Ind. – The University of Findlay wrestling team finished the 46th Annual Midwest Classic on Sunday, Dec. 14, an event hosted yearly by the University of Indianapolis. The Roughnecks had one finisher in the top eight at the competitive event.
After going 2-1 yesterday, heavyweight Giulian Bodiu went 2-2 on the final day. He started with a pin in 4:43 against Ruben Samuelson of Colorado Mesa and then won a close 4-3 decision to advance. Bodiu dropped his final two bouts of the afternoon to finish in eighth in the heavyweight bracket.
Billy Smith, who went 3-0 yesterday in the 125-pound bracket, lost his only two contests of the day. He lost by major decision in the quarterfinal round and was then beaten in sudden victory in the consolation bracket, ending his tournament.
Findlay will be back in action on January 9-10 for the Virginia Duals.
