Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's basketball team was back in action on Thursday, Feb. 20 for their last regular season home game of the year.  Pregame, the Oilers honored seniors
Mckenna Stephens,
Chloe Callahan,
Janae Hoying, and
Kate Ellis.  Matched up against Hillsdale College, Findlay would fall short by a score of 57-68.  With the loss, the Oilers see their record drop to 19-8 overall and 12-6 in conference play.  Meanwhile, the Chargers rise to 17-8 overall and 14-4 in conference.
Despite the result, the Oilers came out of the gate firing on all cylinders.  With the help of
Alyssa Ziehler, who scored the first six points for the Oilers, they saw their lead sit at 12 points to conclude the first half of play.
The rest of the game would be a struggle, as the first quarter would be the only where they would reach double digit field goals.  The Oilers were ice cold from beyond the arc, as they could only muster one make on 15 attempts.  Findlay's struggles extended to the free throw line as well, shooting a below average 6-14 from the charity stripe.
Putting the game out of reach for the Chargers was Caitlin Splain, who recorded 25 points, including numerous clutch shots down the stretch.
Leading the Oilers in scoring was
Kate Ellis, who recorded 16 points along with four rebounds and three assists.  Also with a strong showing was Ziehler, who had 12 points on eight rebounds.
The Oilers will be back in action on the road against Ashland University on Thursday Feb. 27.  Tip off will be at 5:30 pm.
