Owensboro, Ky. - The University of Findlay baseball team was back in action on Friday, March 14 for their Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) opener against Kentucky Wesleyan College. On a day filled with home runs due to windy conditions, the Oilers would drop the first game 1-12 before taking the second game 10-7 after scoring seven runs in the final inning of play. With the split, the Oilers record now stands at 8-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Panthers now sit at 8-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Game 1 (1-12)
The KWC offense would come out scorching hot in the first game of the series, as they would hit three home runs on their way to earning a run rule victory. The Panthers would start with two homers in the second inning, before adding one more in the bottom of the third to jump out to an early six run advantage.
Along with the home runs, KWC would add two doubles and a triple, leading them to a 12-run showing. The Oilers would muster one run, after

Luke Senften after reaching on an error by the Panthers shortstop.
Logan Bragg would suffer the loss on the mound for the Oilers. The graduate student would give up eight runs on eight hits in three innings of work. His record now stands at 2-2 on the year.
Game 2 (10-7)
In the second game of the day, the Oilers would try to match the high-flying offense from the Panthers, and they would do just that. Findlay would get on the board immediately, as they would score one run by way of a Senften sacrifice fly to score
Mason Myers, who singled to lead off the game.
The Panthers would respond in the bottom half of the first with two runs, coming on a two-run shot. Thanks to four more home runs, the Panthers walked into the top of the seventh inning with a four-run advantage.
Starting the rally in the seventh was Myers, who roped his first collegiate home run over the centerfield fence to cut the lead to three. The very next batter was Senften, who also went deep to make it back-to-back solo shots for the Orange and Black. RBI knocks from
Keelan Daniel and
Theo Winings would tie the game at seven, without even recording an out in the inning. With two outs and two on, junior
Gavyn Smith would rip a ball over the wall in center to give the Oilers a three-run lead on his first at-bat of the day.
Coming in to shut the door was freshman
Camdon Tuttle, who would strike out three Panther batters to give the Oilers the comeback win. Tuttle would earn his third save of the young season.

Theo Winings would also finish with a good day at the plate, going 2-4 in the second game and recording an RBI.
