Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay lacrosse team hosted the Daemen University Wildcats on Saturday, March 8 at the Armstrong Sports Complex in Findlay, Ohio for a non-league affair. A late rally by the Oilers was not quite enough as Daemen was able to earn the 12-7 victory. The defeat fives UF a 1-5 record on the year while Daemen improves to 2-2.
DU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Oilers were quick to answer in the first period as junior
Tessa Chuba scored a pair of goals to knot the score up at 2-2 through the first 15 minutes of action.
At that point, the Wildcats dug in, scoring three goals before halftime and another four to start the third quarter. Those seven unanswered goals were seemingly enough to end any hope for the home squad.
Findlay did not go away quietly. Another Chuba goal was followed by two scores from sophomore
Karissa Allbright and made the score 9-5 with just under eight minutes to play. However, DU put any hopes for Findlay to bed with three consecutive goals in a span of less than two minutes to take back control at 12-5.
Two more goals from
Karissa Allbright were too-little, too-late as the Wildcats went on to pick up the win.
Allbright finished the game with four goals on four shot attempts while Chuba had three goals on seven shots, three ground balls, five caused turnovers, and four draw controls.
The Oilers are back in action tomorrow, Sunday, March 9 for a game against the Dominican Universtiy of California Penguins. That contest will begin at 3 pm.
