Findlay, Ohio - On a sunny March 9 afternoon, the University of Findlay lacrosse team was defeated by the Dominican University Penguins by a score of 17-5. The Oilers fall to 1-6 on the year with the loss while DU, which is located in San Rafael, California and plays in the Mountain East Conference (MEC), improves to 4-0.
The Oilers took an early lead when freshman
Breeann Talabac scored on Findlay's first possession of the game on an assist from sophomore
Karissa Allbright, but two quick goals by Dominican saw Findlay fall behind.
A goal by junior
Tessa Chuba tied the contest at 2-2, but a run of eight consecutive goals came from the Penguins, who would ultimately take a 10-3 lead into halftime.
DU outscored Findlay in the second half 7-2, finishing the game off with a goal with only 23 seconds remaining leaving the clock to run down to 0:00.
Allbright had four points for Findlay, tallying one goal and three assists to go along with four draw controls. Freshman
Cora West had a goal and an assist. Chuba, Talabac, and freshman
Eloise Kolofer each chipped in with a goal.
The Oilers will now hit the road, playing next on Wednesday, March 12 at Barton College in North Carolina.
