North Canton, Ohio - The University of Findlay softball team was back in action on Sunday, Apr. 13 for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) doubleheader against Walsh University. Propelled by some very strong pitching, the Oilers would cruise to a sweep, extending their win streak to nine games. With the two wins, Findlay now stands at 27-9 overall and 14-4 in conference play.
Game 1 (5-1)
Emma Jones would get the start in the circle for the Oilers, and she would not disappoint. The senior would throw a seven inning complete game, only allowing one run on four hits. She would also finish with five strikeouts on the game. She would earn her ninth win of the year for her efforts.
Kora Navarro would be the engine in the Oilers offense early, as a single in the top of the first gave them a 1-0 lead early. After a solo shot from Walsh in the second, Navarro would take the lead right back in the third with an RBI ground-out to score
Annika Bredel.
The Oilers would hold onto a one run lead until the top of the seventh, when a
Joslynne Frazier two-run home run would extend the lead to three. The score would reach 5-1 when
Jenna Poulson would score from third on a first and third situation that same inning.
Game 2 (9-2)
Toeing the rubber in game two for the Oilers was
Kayla Dykin, who entered the contest top five in all of division two in terms of ERA. The junior would have yet another strong performance, only allowing two runs on two hits in her five innings of work. Dykin would earn her 11th win for her efforts in the contest.
The Findlay offense wasted no time in this one, jumping out to an eight run lead through three innings of play. Some defensive miscues from the Cavaliers, along with RBI base hits from
Aurora Lescody and
Keeley Murray would play a key role in the large lead for the Oilers.
After two runs were scored by Walsh in the fourth inning, an RBI single from
Anna Jones in the fifth would put the game out of reach and lead to the 9-2 victory for Findlay.
Quick Stats
Annika Bredel would lead the Oilers offense, recording four hits on the day. The junior would also finish her day with two RBIs and a stolen base.
Aurora Lescody was also impressive, as she would go 3-4 in game two, including a double. The junior would finish with two RBIs and two runs scored.

The Oilers will be back at home on Wednesday, Apr. 16 for a doubleheader with regional opponent Saginaw Valley. First pitch is slated for 3 pm.
