Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team took down the Tiffin University Dragons on Wednesday, April 16, winning by a score of 20-9. The Oilers, which scored 20 goals in a game for the second time this season, improve to 7-9 with the win including a 6-1 record in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play. Tiffin falls to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in the G-MAC.
Putting together arguably its' best game of the season, Findlay quickly jumped ahead, scoring the first four goals of the game. Three of those scores came from junior Tessa Chuba who would go on to make some history on Wednesday afternoon.
By halftime, the Oilers were firmly in control at 8-2 and early in the fourth, a goal by Chuba made the score 17-7, initiating the running clock.
It was complete domination by the Oilers which recorded 34 shots to just 19 for the Dragons. UF also controlled midfield, recording 23 draw controls which is one shy of the program record.
Findlay had 20 turnovers but forced Tiffin into 21. Of those 21 turnovers by Tiffin, 11 were caused by Chuba which is a new program record, breaking the old mark of eight which was set in 2014 by Sarah Lankton.
Chuba finished the game with eight goals on 16 shots. Those 16 shots also are a new program record, passing the former mark of 15 shots which was set in 2023 by Danielle Dilorenzo. Chuba also had nine ground balls and ten draw controls to round out the best game of her career.
Sophomore Rebecca Chmiel added four goals and an assist while freshman Eloise Kologer and Natalie Wright each had two goals.
Freshman Kendra Stevens, who had one goal, was critical in helping the Oilers posses the ball, picking up nine draw controls.
In the net, freshman Caroline Weber picked up the win, playing 45 minutes and allowing just four goals. She also made four saves.
Findlay is back in action on Saturday, April 19 when they will take on the Ashland University Eagles. That game, the final of the regular season, will start at noon at Findlay's Armstrong Sports Complex.
