Oilers Drop to Wayne State 11-7

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay baseball team was back in action on Tuesday, Apr. 22 for a match-up against Wayne State University.  In the last home game of the season, with the season series with the Warriors knotted at 1-1, the Oilers would ultimately fall in the rubber match by a score of 7-11.  With the loss, Findlay now stands at 20-20.  Meanwhile, Wayne State rises to 20-21.

The Oilers would waste no time getting on the board, pushing across four runs in the bottom of the first inning.  After loading the bases, a two-RBI double from Ryan Thompson and a two-RBI single from Aiden Booth would be the cause of the early four spot.

Just one inning later, Thompson would once again double, this time to right center to bring home three more runs for the Oilers and bring their lead to 7-0.

After a few scoreless innings, the game would remain at 7-0 through five.  Logan Bragg, who started on the hill for the Oilers, would finish his day with five shutout innings. He would only allow four hits and strike out five.

Looking to crack the zero in the runs column, the Warriors would do just that, breaking out for eight runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead.  They would add three by way of the rare inside the park home run, followed by a two-RBI single and three-RBI double.

Wayne State would add three more runs in the top of the eighth, making the score 11-7 and ultimately putting the game out of reach for Findlay.
