Indianapolis, Ind. – On Thursday, April 24, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced the women's tennis all-conference selections for the 2024-25 season. Findlay had a program record six players named all-conference and had two major awards as Polina Zaytseva was named Freshman of the Year and coach Jeff Westmeyer was named Coach of the Year.
Also named to all-conference teams were Elina Ivanova and Anamarija Kovacevic who joined Zaytseva with first team honors. Valentina Salek, Ivanova Lucero, and Audrey Ouellet each earned second team accolades.
Freshman of the Year & First Team | Polina Zaytseva
In her first year at Findlay, Zaytseva has made a major impact for the Oilers which reached as high as No. 5 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings this year. She finished the regular season with a singles record of 21-5 including a record in conference play of 6-1. In doubles play she teamed up with Valentina Salek and currently rank as No. 28 in the country as a squad.
Coach of the Year | Jeff Westmeyer
Earning his first conference Coach of the Year honor, Westmeyer has taken Findlay's women's tennis program to unprecedented heights. This season the Oilers went 18-2 in duals including a perfect 9-0 record in G-MAC play, earning the program's first-ever outright regular-season title.
First Team
Earning her third consecutive all-conference honor and second consecutive first team pick is junior Anamarija Kovacevic who was as good as advertised this season, playing many of her matches at first singles for the Oilers. Kovacevic had a record of 20-5 in singles play and was 3-2 in the G-MAC. Earlier in the year, Kovacevic climbed into the top-20 among singles players in the country and currently is ranked No. 75 in all of Division II. In doubles play, Kovacevic was 13-6 including a perfect 3-0 within the conference.
Elina Ivanova will leave as one of the best to ever play at Findlay and adds to her resume with a fourth straight all-G-MAC pick and a third first team honor. Ivanova, who holds the Oilers all-time singles and doubles wins records, went 21-2 in singles this year including a perfect 9-0 in conference play. She also went 7-1 in doubles in the G-MAC.
Second Team
Valentina Salek has earned second team all-G-MAC for the second consecutive year after going 14-5 in singles and 15-5 in doubles. She was 4-0 in singles play within the conference.
Ivanova Lucero has earned her first all-conference accolade after going 19-3 in singles with a 6-0 mark in the G-MAC. She added a 9-2 mark in doubles play including going 3-0 in conference.
Audrey Oullet, in her first year with the Oilers, went 11-2 in singles during the year and was 3-0 within the G-MAC. She also went 6-2 in doubles play in the G-MAC.
