About the Oilers
The track and field teams have built a legacy of success and enter the championship as strong contenders once again. The women's team previously claimed titles in 2024, 2023, and 2021, while the men's team has secured championships in 2024 and 2022.
The ninth-ranked Oilers women's team, per the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Rating Index, has solidified its position at the top of the conference while also making a national impact. They boast multiple top times, led by the 4x400-meter relay team, which holds the fastest time in the country this season at 3:37.08. Their 4x100-meter relay team is also a national powerhouse and ranked second in the country with a time of 44.43. Individually, senior Kylie Ray is ranked nationally in the top-ten in two events to lead the way. She ranks third nationally in the 400-meter hurdles at 58.10 and sixth in the 400-meter with a time of 53.26. Additionally, freshman Colleen Steinmetz is ranked eighth nationally in the pole vault at 4.10 meters while sophomore Leah Smith is tenth in the country in the 100-meter dash at 11.48.
The men's team has been led by sophomore Nate Buschur, who is ranked seventh nationally in the pole vault with a mark of 5.11 meters. Junior Collin Warner (60.13m) and sophomore Leyton Nossa (59.69m) are ranked 14th and 15th in the nation, respectively, in the hammer throw as well.

Comments from Head Coach Jared Krout
We want to show up and be ready to compete our best. We are hoping to come out with the same result as last year, which saw us finish as runner-up indoor and come back with two big wins outdoors. I think both teams have a good chance if we show up ready to perform.
It is going to take a great effort across the board with contributions from each event area. We are going to need big performances from our top athletes and also need some unexpected people to show up and do something unexpected. We have a large senior group this year, so we're hoping that experience pays off for us in a championship type meet.
I pick a quote for the team each week and early in the outdoor season one of our quotes was the classic from Abraham Lincoln, "If you give me 6 hours to chop down a tree, I will spend the first 4 sharpening the axe." The message this week, is that we spent the season, preparing and "sharpening the axe." This week, it's time to go compete - Let's go "chop down the tree."
