Errors Haunt Oilers | Suffer 21-6 Loss to Warriors

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay baseball team was back in action on Tuesday, Apr. 8 for a midweek match-up with regional foe Wayne State University.  Errors and Walks would haunt the Oilers, as they would drop the game by a score of 21-6.  With the loss, the Oilers now sit at 15-16.  Meanwhile, the Warriors see their record rise to 17-15.

Despite the cold weather, the Warriors offense was hot from the jump, recording seven runs by the end of the fourth inning.  All game long they would take advantage of free passes issued by the Oilers, as they would finish with four errors, four hit by pitches, and 13 walks.  The big blow would come in the seventh inning, when Wayne State pushed across 11 runs in the inning.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Oilers would finally erase the zero on the scoreboard.  With the help of a two-RBI double from senior Joe Kroeger, Findlay would score six runs in the final frame.

Quick Stats
With two stolen bases in the bottom of the first inning, Casey Maruniak reached 30 stolen bases on the season.  The total marks a new single season record for the Oilers, breaking Mike Berner's record of 29 which was set in 1975.

Junior Aiden Weiland and Graduate Student William Rouse would each throw scoreless frames to close out the game for the Oilers.  Weiland would record one strikeout while Rouse would fan three.
