Boulder City, Nev. - The University of Findlay women's golf team, ranked fifth in the country by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), was back in action on Wednesday, May 14 for the second day of play in the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championship. Now through 36 holes of play, the Oilers find themselves in fifth place. After finishing day one with a 288 (E), Findlay fired a 285 (-3) on day two to bring their score to three-under.
The Oilers sit just one stroke back of #3 Flagler College, who is in fourth place with a score of four-under. Leading the pack is #8 Cal State San Marcos, who currently sits at 12-under. Findlay holds a three-stroke lead over #11 West Texas A&M, who is currently in sixth place. Ranked #2 Wingate currently sits in seventh at four-over, while three teams sit in a tie in eighth at eight-over. Following the last 18 holes of stroke play tomorrow, the top eight teams will move on to medal match play and fight for the national title.
It would be junior
Ellie Yeazell leading the charge for the Orange and Black on day two, as the junior would bounce back from her five-over 77 on day one with a four-under 68. Yeazell finished with four birdies and an eagle to bring her total score to one over. With her performance, she has climbed 56 spots on the leaderboard and now sits tied for 21st.
Seniors
Mary Kelly Mulcahy and
Erin Mulcahy would also finish with their rounds under par. M.K. Mulcahy recorded five birdies on her way to shooting a two-under 70. She is currently tied for ninth with a total score of two-under. E. Mulcahy finished day two with a score of 71 (-1), recording three birdies and an eagle. She brought her score back to even par and is in a tie for 17th.
Rounding out the lineup was sophomore
Ashleigh Duflo and junior
Hayley Dye. Duflo finished with a 76 (+4), putting her score at one-over for the tournament. Dye would finish day two with a 78 (+6), with her score now at eight-over.
The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow, Thursday, May 15 for the final day of stroke play. Findlay will be looking to maintain their position in the top eight to move on to medal match play.
