Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Goal Gives Oilers Win Over Panthers

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's soccer team was back in action on Saturday, Sep. 20 for their home opener against Kentucky Wesleyan.  In a scrappy back and forth battle, the Oilers would come away with a hard fought 2-1 victory.  With the win, they see their record rise to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play.  Meanwhile, Kentucky Wesleyan falls to 0-2-4 overall and 0-2 in conference.

Looking to set the tone in this one was Findlay, who would do just that with a goal in the 14th minute.  Scoring would be Carson Oberski, who recorded his team high third goal of the young season.

After a long stretch of scoreless play, the Panthers would knot things up at one with a goal of their own in the 60th minute, capitalizing on a ball ricocheting off of the goalpost.

With the momentum now with the Panthers, the Oilers would claw their way back into the lead in the 83rd minute, as Eric Millan would send one home.  This would be the freshman's first shot attempt of his collegiate career, coming up clutch to give Findlay a 2-1 lead.

The last seven minutes of the game would be controlled chaos, with three yellow cards being handed out.  There would be a total of five cautions in the contest, along with 20 total fouls.

Keegan Grant stood tall in goal for the Oilers in this one, recording five big saves in the match.

The Oilers will be back in action on Thursday, Sep. 25 for a match-up in Midland against Northwood University.  Kick off will be at 7 pm.
