Oilers Battle to a 1-1 Draw at Northwood

Midland, Mich. – The University of Findlay women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie on the road against Northwood University on Thursday, September 25. With the result, Findlay moves to 2-2-3 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play. Northwood moves to 4-0-2 overall and 1-0-2 in conference play.

The Oilers struck first in the 53rd minute when senior Payton Miller found the back of the net with a high-right shot to give Findlay a 1-0 advantage. The goal was Miller's first of her senior season after scoring four goals for the Oilers last year.

Northwood responded late, equalizing in the 83rd minute when the Timberwolves scored on a high-right strike off a corner kick assist. Despite a heavy offensive push by the Oilers in the closing minutes, including a corner kick in the final seconds, they were unable to find the game-winner.

Findlay controlled much of the match offensively, outshooting the Timberwolves 24-9 and holding a 9-3 edge in corner kicks. The Oilers also put 11 shots on goal compared to Northwood's four, but Timberwolves goalkeeper kept her team alive with10 saves.

Individually, Miller and senior Sydney Noble led the Oilers with five shots apiece, while senior Ava Ayers added four and sophomore Avary Zeisloft chipped in three. On target, Ayers, Miller, Noble, and senior Kaitlyn Siefert each recorded two shots.

The Oilers will return home to host Ohio Dominican on Saturday, September 27, with kickoff set for 4:00 p.m. at DeHaven Field in Findlay, Ohio
