Columbus, Ohio – The University of Findlay volleyball team remains in the win column on Friday, Sep. 26 with a 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-18, 25-21) victory against the Ohio Dominican Panthers. That win moves the Oilers to 8-1 on the season with a 2-0 record in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while ODU, which plays in the South Division of the conference, falls to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in league action.
The Panthers jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead in the opening frame but the Oilers regrouped thanks to a 7-2 run to take a three-point advantage. They continued to dominate, taking an 18-10 lead later in the set. The visiting team would finish the first with a .265 hitting percentage, earning an eight-point win.
Set number two was a challenge for UF which hit just .028, recording just six kills. With the score at 8-8, Ohio Dominican went on to score 11 of the next 14 points to open up an 19-11 advantage. The Oilers mounted a late push, fending off set point four times, but a kill from ODU ultimately evened the match.
Findlay controlled the third set wire-to-wire, then battled from behind in the fourth, closing with a 9-2 run to secure the scrappy win and the match.
As a team the Oilers hit .196 for the match while ODU hit just .107.

Makenna Belcher led the offense with 13 kills on a .120 clip. The Marengo, Ohio native has now tallied double-digit kills in eight of Findlay's nine matches, while also contributing one block and six digs.

Hannah Miller also reached double figures with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Both added two blocks, and Miller chipped in nine digs.

Emma White had 34 assists and fifteen digs while junior
Kirsten Bomholt recorded a team-high 17 digs.
The Oilers are back in action on Saturday, Sep. 27 when they play host to the Ashland Eagles. That contest will begin at 2:30 pm.
