Ashland, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's soccer team defeated sixth-ranked Ashland, 1-0, in a thrilling upset on Saturday, October 3. The victory marked the Oilers' third consecutive win, improving their record to 7-2-2 overall and 4-1-2 in G-MAC play. Findlay handed Ashland its first G-MAC loss since 2022 and its first-ever G-MAC home loss.
The match began evenly, with both teams exchanging scoring chances. The game's lone goal came in the 27th minute when freshman Adyson Brown scored the first goal of her collegiate career. Findlay created four chances in the first half, while Ashland recorded five.
The Eagles battled back in the second half, generating 12 shots and putting five on goal. However, the Oilers absorbed the pressure and held on to secure the upset victory.
In goal, fifth-year goalkeeper Cat Graves recorded a well-deserved shutout, including a penalty-kick save. It marked her second penalty-kick save of the season. Graves finished the match with six saves to preserve Findlay's lead and secure the victory.
Findlay will return to action when the Oilers host Malone at DeHaven Field on Thursday, October 8, at 4 p.m.
