Baseball Drops Series Finale vs Wayne State

Cincinnati, Ohio – The University of Findlay baseball team dropped its series finale to Wayne State University (Mich.) by a score of 15-1 on Sunday, March 1, at Hayden Field. The loss drops the Oilers to 5-7 on the season, while the Warriors improve to 10-2.

Wayne State controlled the game from the outset, building their lead before putting the game completely out of reach with a five-run sixth inning and a five-run eighth inning.

Findlay's lone run of the contest came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Drew Tucker led off with a single to center field and advanced to third on a single by Nick Palm. Casey Maruniak then delivered a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing Tucker home to briefly cut the deficit to 3-1. However, the Oilers were unable to generate any further offense to close the gap.

Starting pitcher Aidan Kiessling (0-3) took the loss for the Oilers, pitching 4.0 innings and allowing three earned runs on just one hit while walking six batters.

Offensively, Findlay was limited to five hits in the contest.

Findlay is back in action on Friday, March 6, kicking off a four-game set against Gannon University that weekend. Those games will be played in Tiffin, Ohio at Heidelberg University.
