Women’s Golf Finishes 11th at Boilermaker Spring Classic

West Lafayette, Ind. – The No. 4 University of Findlay women's golf team concluded play at the Boilermaker Spring Classic, hosted by Purdue University at Birck Boilermaker Golf Course, on Monday, April 13.

Competing as the only Division II program in a field filled with top Division I teams from conferences such as the Big Ten, Big 12, and Big East, the Oilers turned in rounds of 307 (+19), 308 (+20), and 308 (+20) to finish in 11th place for the event.

Leading the way for the Oilers was junior Ashleigh Duflo, who posted a three-round total of 229 (+13) with consistent rounds of 77, 77, and a team-best 75 in the final round. Duflo's steady play paced Findlay throughout the event and for a 30th place individual finish.

Senior Hayley Dye was the next best Oiler carding rounds of 78 (+6), 78 (+6), and 76 (+4). Dye finished 16-over for the event and in 49th place.

Senior Ellie Yeazell finished with a 234 (+18), opening strong with rounds of 75 and 76 before closing with an 83. Sophomore Gracie James followed closely behind at 236 (+20), carding rounds of 77, 77, and 82.

Sophomore Avery Thompson and freshman Emma Myers each finished at 238 (+22). Thompson rebounded nicely after opening rounds of 82 and 81, firing a 75 in the final round. Myers mirrored that late-round improvement, closing with a 75 after rounds of 80 and 83.

The Oilers will return to action on Thursday, April 16, when they open postseason play at the Great Midwest Championship at Belterra Golf Club in Florence, Indiana.
