Lacrosse Drops 10-6 Decision at Davenport in Non-League Action

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team fell on the road Tuesday, April 7, dropping a 10-6 non-conference decision to Davenport. The Oilers fall to 6-6 overall while Davenport improves to 8-5.

Davenport controlled the opening quarter, taking a 2-1 lead. Rebecca Chmiel put Findlay on the board with an unassisted goal with 2:58 remaining in the period.

Davenport continued to build separation in the second quarter, utilizing a trio of man-up goals to extend their lead. Davenport struck three times early in the frame before Chmiel added her second unassisted goal. Karissa Allbright followed with an unassisted goal of her own to cut into the deficit, but Brianna Rodriguez found the net late to send Davenport into the break with a 6-3 advantage.

Findlay opened the third quarter with a goal from Allbright to trim the lead to 6-4, but Davenport answered to regain momentum. Two more goals gave Davenport the lead 9-4 heading into the final 15 minutes.

The Oilers finished the game strong in the fourth quarter, outscoring Davenport 2-1 in the final frame. After an early Panthers goal, Chmiel and Allbright each scored to close out the game. Allbright's final goal was assisted by Carrigan McCormack.

Chmiel and Allbright led all Findlay players, scoring three goals each to account for the entirety of the Oilers' offense. McCormack finished with the team's only assist. For Davenport, Basha paced the offense with three goals and one assist.

In goal, Caroline Weber took the loss after allowing six goals and making three saves in her 30 minutes of action. Josie Owens played the final 30 minutes, recording three saves and allowing four goals.

Findlay returns to Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play on Friday, April 10 with a game against Northwood.
