Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's soccer team opened up the 2026 season at home on Thursday, August 27, taking on the Point Park University Pioneers. The Oilers scored once in each half to pick up a 2-0 victory.
18 minutes into the game, a Point Park foul in the box led to a penalty kick for the Oilers. Fifth year senior Raegan Smith cashed in, putting the home team on top 1-0 early.
Just two minutes into the second half, Smith found the net again. Junior Avary Zeisloft sent a pass into goalmouth where Smith leaped and headed the ball past the Pioneers' diving keeper.
Findlay's defense remained stout, as it had all game, and did not allow a goal, leading to a decisive 2-0 victory in the opener.
The Oilers outshot Point Park 12-2 in the game, relying on outstanding defense which made opportunities nearly impossible for the visiting team from Pittsburgh, PA. Senior keeper Cat Graves started and played all 90 minutes for Findlay and collective a pair of saves.
Findlay is back on the pitch on Sunday, August 30 with a game against Fairmont State. That 4 pm contest will be played at home on DeHaven Field.
