Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay women's soccer team returned to Dehaven Field in a match-up against the Fairmont State Falcons on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The Oilers fell just short, 2-1 after 90 minutes of play. A pair of first-half goals from the Falcons would help to secure the victory, moving Fairmont State's record to 2-0-0. The Oilers fall to 1-1-0.
The Falcons opened up the scoring early in the match with a 7th minute goal to start the game for the Falcons, 1-0. Just three minutes after the goal, freshman Olivia Gayhart would respond, scoring her first career goal for the Oilers in the 10th minute off a corner kick that would level the match 1-1.
The Falcons would respond in the 33rd minute from a free-kick served into the box that would find the foot of a Falcon player to give Fairmont State a 2-1 lead. This would be one of just four shots for the Falcons in the game.
The second half would see plenty of opportunities for the Oilers as they registered seven of their fifteen shots in the final 45 minutes of play. Findlay would also add eight corners to their tally in their comeback effort, but would end up falling just short, as the match would finish 2-1.
The Oilers return to play on Friday, September 4th in Big Rapids, MI as they take on the Ferris State Bulldogs.
