Owensboro, Ky. — The University of Findlay women's soccer team earned its first G-MAC win in a 4-1 victory against Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday, September 12. The Oilers held a 2-1 lead at halftime and scored two unanswered goals in the second half to complete the win. With the win, the Oilers improve to 4-1-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in the G-MAC.
Fifth-year Raegan Smith opened the scoring 24 minutes into the first half to make it 1-0. Kentucky Wesleyan responded quickly, tying the game at 1-1 less than a minute later. Smith, who scored both of Findlay's goals in the first half, answered right back 13 minutes later to give the Oilers a 2-1 lead.
The Oilers recorded 15 shots and forced six saves from the Kentucky Wesleyan goalkeeper in the first 45 minutes.
Findlay picked up the level in the second half, with goals coming from senior Taylir Lynam, assisted by Smith, and sophomore Addison Williams, who scored the fourth goal on a penalty kick.
At the end of the 90 minutes, Findlay recorded 29 shots, 12 of which were on target, and earned seven corners. Smith and Lynam both contributed three shots on target.
Findlay will be back at home on Thursday, September 17, when they face Northwood and hope to extend their unbeaten run in the G-MAC.
