Oilers Fall in Final Seconds to Northwood

Findlay, Ohio — The University of Findlay women's soccer team returned to action Thursday, September 17, at Armstrong Sports Complex. After a one-hour delay due to weather and field conditions, the match was moved from DeHaven Field to Armstrong Sports Complex. The Oilers fell to the Northwood Timberwolves in the final minutes, with the game ending 1-0. Following the defeat, the Oilers fell to 1-1-1 in the G-MAC and 4-2-1 overall.

The Oilers controlled play in the first half, recording five shots compared to Northwood's one. Findlay also forced three saves from the Northwood goalkeeper in the opening 45 minutes.
Northwood grew into the game in the second half, with the Timberwolves recording 10 shots compared to Findlay's eight. The Oilers forced two saves, while Northwood forced just one save in the second 45 minutes.

With less than one minute remaining in the game, Northwood's Ella Boyd scored after the ball came in from a corner kick, giving the Timberwolves a dramatic victory.

Leading the attack for the Oilers were senior Taylir Lynam, sophomore Addison Williams, and fifth-year Raegan Smith, who each recorded three shots. Smith recorded two shots on goal, while Lynam, senior Morgan Sparks and junior Megan Hollar each contributed a shot on target.

The Oilers will look to bounce back Saturday, September 19, when they travel to Columbus, Ohio, to take on ODU at 3:30 p.m.
