Tiffin, Ohio – The University of Findlay volleyball team picked up a dominant 3-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) victory over Tiffin on Saturday afternoon at the Gillmor Student Center. The Oilers won by set scores of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-19 to improve to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in G-MAC play.
Findlay came out strong in the opening set, hitting .242 as a team while recording 11 kills. The Oilers pulled away late to secure a 25-20 victory and take an early 1-0 lead.
The second set was all Findlay as the Oilers dominated offensively, recording 15 kills while hitting .351. Findlay limited Tiffin to just eight kills and a .027 hitting percentage on its way to a 25-12 win.
Findlay continued its strong play in the third set, hitting an impressive .457 with 18 kills. The Oilers closed out the match with a 25-19 victory to complete the sweep.
Senior Hannah Miller continued her role as the motor of the Findlay offense, recording 16 kills while hitting .351. She also added three assists, two service aces and nine digs.
Lauren Foerster added eight kills while hitting .375 and contributed a service ace, two blocks and a dig. Claire Davis also recorded eight kills, hitting .304, while Keira Turek finished with five kills on nine attacks without committing an error.
Grace Auer paced the Findlay offense with 11 assists, while Zoya Winkelfoos recorded a match-high 19 assists. Miya Ellerbrock led the Oilers defensively with 11 digs, while Miller added nine.
As a team, Findlay hit .352 for the match, recording 44 kills on 105 attacks with just seven errors. The Oilers also held Tiffin to a .165 hitting percentage and 35 kills.
The Oilers will hit the road once more on Friday, September 18 for a conference match-up with Ursuline. Game time is set for 6 pm.
