Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay men's soccer team returned to DeHaven Field on September 24, 2026, in a key conference matchup against the Lake Erie Storm. The match finished in a 2-1 victory for the Oilers, moving them into third place in the current G-MAC standings. The Oilers move to 6-1-1 (3-1-1) on the year, while the Storm falls to 4-3-2 (3-1-1).
The Oilers struck first with a goal from senior Tom Middleham in the 10th minute of the match when a cross from the left side of the field found the right foot of Middleham and into the back of the net. The cross was provided by junior Tyson Woodring.
The Storm responded shortly after in the 20th minute from a corner to level the match 1-1 and send both teams to the half still even.
Just nine minutes into the second half of play, the Oilers regained the lead off a back-post header from senior Carson Oberski in the 54th minute, making the score 2-1. The goal was once again assisted by Tyson Woodring from a long throw on the left side of the field. Woodring's two assists were his first and second of the season. Oberski's goal would be the match winner, as the Oilers would see out the remaining 36 minutes, earning them three points and a key victory in league play.
In what was a very competitive match, Lake Erie outshot the Oilers 9-7, while the Oilers led in corners 7-3. Senior goalkeeper Ethan Hensley finished the match with two saves.
Findlay returns to play next Thursday, October 1, when the travel to North Canton to face the Walsh Cavaliers.
