Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay volleyball team picked up a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) victory on Saturday evening, defeating Tiffin University, 3-1, inside the Croy Physical Education Center. The Oilers won by set scores of 25-22, 25-20, 19-25 and 25-20.
With the victory, Findlay improves to 8-6 overall and 5-1 in G-MAC play, while Tiffin falls to 0-13 overall and 0-4 in conference action.
Findlay opened the match with a 25-22 victory in the first set before taking the second set, 25-20, to build a 2-0 advantage. Tiffin responded in the third set, winning 25-19, but the Oilers closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set.
Senior Hannah Miller led the Oilers offensively with 17 kills on 48 attacks, while adding three service aces and 13 digs. Lauren Foerster followed with 13 kills while hitting a season high .500. She would also finish with three blocks and two service aces.
Victoria Mescher added five kills, two service aces and four blocks, while Keira Turek recorded six blocks, including two solo blocks. Zoya Winkelfoos paced the Findlay offense with 27 assists, while Kirsten Bomholt added eight assists.
Defensively, Miller led Findlay with 13 digs, while Zoya Winkelfoos contributed nine and Cecilia Palm added nine. The Oilers finished the match with 57 digs and 12 total blocks.
Findlay totaled 45 kills while hitting .182 as a team. The Oilers also recorded eight service aces and limited Tiffin to a .132 hitting percentage.
The Oilers will return to action on Friday, October 2 for a 7 pm home contest with Hillsdale.
