Oilers Drop Texas Trip Finale

KINGSVILLE, Texas – The University of Findlay women's volleyball team engaged in a back-and-forth battle on Saturday, Sept. 5, falling in a five-set decision (29-27, 18-25, 25-22, 24-26, 12-15) to Edinboro University. With the loss, the Oilers move to 3-4 on the season, while the Fighting Scots improve to 4-4.

The match proved to be a nail-biter from the start, featuring 27 tie scores and 14 lead changes across the five frames. Findlay struck first in an extended opening set, outlasting Edinboro 29-27 to claim the early advantage. The Fighting Scots responded in set two with a 25-18 victory to level the match. The Oilers regained momentum in the third frame, recording 14 kills to take the set 25-22. Edinboro then forced a deciding fifth set by narrowly taking set four, 26-24. In the final frame, the Fighting Scots hit .368 to edge out the Oilers 15-12 and secure the match victory.

Hannah Miller powered the Findlay offense with a match-high 26 kills on 73 attempts, while also matching the team high in digs with 15. The Oilers' offense has featured Miller heavily so far to begin the season, as this marks the second consecutive match with 26 kills, already totaling 139 on the year.

Freshman Claire Davis finished with the biggest game thus far in her young career, finishing with 12 kills on 25 attempts.

Setter Zoya Winkelfoos orchestrated the attack all match long, tallying a career high 59 assists.

At the net, Keira Turek spearheaded the blocking effort with four total blocks, including two solo stops.

Findlay will return to action Friday, September 11 when they travel to Ashland for a rematch with the Eagles to open up conference play.
